the scope of this project is to make epub a first-class citizen of the web. this includes: the discovery of and adoption of the epub 3.0 specification. this specification is in the public domain and is being actively adopted by industry. the implementation of an open, non-proprietary, portable epub document format. the implementation of the open web platform oasis web content accessibility guidelines (wcag) 2.0, in both the epub 3.0 and open web platform (owp) specifications. both epub 3.0 and owp are in the public domain, and both are expected to be supported by a broad cross-section of devices, platforms and software. in addition, the open web platform (owp) specification is expected to be supported by a variety of devices and platforms. support for the web platform will include: the exploration of new and emerging web standards and the maintenance and enhancement of existing standards. the exploration of the web-based solutions for wcag 2.0 (the web content accessibility guidelines) and the maintenance and enhancement of these standards. the exploration of the web platform for supporting content delivery and distribution. the exploration of the use of epub for storage and retrieval of documents. the exploration of the use of epub for personal information management and in particular the development of the epub personal information manager (pim). the development of epub-based solutions for the management of both structured data (e.g. documents, spreadsheets, presentations, web pages, structured queries, etc.) and unstructured data (e. audio, images, videos, etc.). the creation and adoption of best practices, guidelines and processes for epub content. this project is expected to be a highly collaborative effort with strong input from both the oasis community and the industry. the first priorities include: the development of epub 3.0 and owp specifications. the creation of an epub 3.0 and owp community group. the development of the open web platform specification. the creation of a pim working group. the development of a pim specification and implementation.
